The placement season at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, has once again highlighted the institute’s legacy of excellence, with a notable rise in placement statistics compared to previous years. In the 2024–25 placement cycle, IIT (BHU) recorded its highest-ever package — a staggering ₹2.20 crore per annum — setting a new benchmark in the institute’s history. Notably, 15 students received offers exceeding ₹1 crore, underscoring the exceptional quality of talent nurtured within the institute’s classrooms and labs.
Rising Averages and Robust Offer Count
The average package climbed to an impressive ₹22.8 lakh per annum. So far, over 1,373 job offers have been extended, including four international placements, reinforcing global confidence in the institute’s graduates.
Standing Strong Amid National Trends
A recent Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education report revealed that placement rates for BTech students dropped in 22 of the 23 IITs compared to 2021–22, with top institutes like IIT Madras, Bombay, Delhi, and Kanpur seeing declines of over 10 percentage points. In contrast, IIT (BHU) improved its performance, achieving an 83.15% placement rate, one of the highest among IITs this year.

Over 350 top recruiters participated this season, offering roles across software, consulting, finance, core engineering, product management, and more. Notable names include Google,Microsoft, Uber, Flipkart, Paytm, Mastercard, Goldman Sachs, and McKinsey & Company, alongside new-age companies like Meesho, Sprinklr, Zomato, and Atlassian. Research and financial firms such as Wells Fargo, Piramal, Tredence, and Databricks also contributed to the hiring drive.

The institute also saw over 425 internship offers, reflecting the strong industry trust in IIT (BHU)’s early-stage talent and the value placed on experiential learning.
