Introduction

To develop room number F5 (earlier used as Drawing Hall) as a modernized Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory that will house multiple setups for experiments for fundamental UG subjects related to basic electrical engineering and electrical networks, viz. EO101 for 7 other department students, EE101 and EE261 for electrical engineering students, EO201 for 2 department students.
Estimated Timeline for the Project
1 Year
Expected Impact
Over the years, number of students have been increased across all departments. The present network laboratory caters to large number of students (EO101 for 7 other department students, EE101 and EE261 for electrical engineering students, EO201 for 2 department students). Also, due to space constraints, some of the EO101 experiments are conducted at machines laboratory and department has to depute resources at both the locations at the same time. On the other hand, we made all possible efforts to accommodate such large number of students by running multiple setups for the same experiments, for which existing laboratory space has been stretched yet falling short. On the other hand, room number F5, which is a drawing hall, is now used for examination purpose only. It remains unused for remaining of the year except the few hours in the examination days. Also, due to increase in number of students, F5 alone is not sufficient to conduct examination at one go. Hence, it is proposed to develop F5 as a Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory so that the above student groups can be accommodated more comfortably by running multiple setups of the same experiments to reduce number of students in a single group at one place and at one go. The same had been deliberated earlier in the Departmental Faculty Committee (DFC) and the EWS grant was supposed to be utilized for the purpose. However, this has not been materialized yet. This requirement is pending for some years now.
