IIT (BHU) Foundation Scholarship
Upholding IIT (BHU)’s legacy of offering life-changing experiences and building everlasting bonds between students and alumni, the IIT (BHU) Foundation awards scholarships to students who wish to make a difference. Endowed with the generous contributions of the Institute’s alumni, the scholarship fund is a novel initiative to pave a path for students’ brighter future while contributing to the flourishing IIT (BHU) community.
IIT (BHU) Foundation Scholarship offered by IIT (BHU) Foundation Scholarship Committee intends to provide educational funding to IIT (BHU) students on means criterion and delivering them growth opportunities.
Scholarship Information
This scholarship will be available at three funding levels for the students based on the applicable fee structure of the incoming student:

Criteria for Scholarship
- The student should be an incoming qualified student pursuing 4 years B-Tech. and 5 years IDD (Integrated dual degree, B-Tech. + M-Tech.) degree at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, India.
- Once selected for this scholarship, it will be continued for a total of four/five years, subject to the following conditions.
– Continuing in the course under the regular schedule
– No backlogs in any semester
– Minimum CGPA of 7.0 in every semester, including the first semester - The scholarship shall be awarded to the student based on the means criteria (Family Income). In the future, as the scholarship fund grows, the scholarship committee might tweak the current criterion or add an entirely new set of criteria to satisfy the needs of the additional donors or fill the gaps identified by IIT (BHU).

FAQs
The scholarship is for the incoming students (first year) for the entire duration (4 years) of their study at IIT (BHU) subject to the student meeting continued eligibility criterion. So unfortunately the second year, third year and final year students are not eligible to apply.
No. At any point in time, you can just have this scholarship or the other one. It is your responsibility to inform the institute authorities that you no longer want to receive this scholarship or no longer want to be considered for the scholarship.
Assuming you have gathered required documents already, it should not take more than five minutes. So please gather the documents first and then apply.
An acknowledgement email of your application will be generated right after you apply. Please allow us to gather all applications between Sep and Dec of each year. In the month of Jan, you should receive an email whether you have been selected or wait listed . The selected students will be given around two weeks to respond before wait listed students will be considered and informed of their selection.
While at IIT (BHU), please continue to focus on your studies so you remain eligible for the scholarship second year onwards.
Once you graduate from IIT (BHU), we expect that you would return the favor to the Institute in some form. This scholarship was started due to a generous gift from a former student and the time / effort put by many current/former students along with collaboration from the Institute authorities. Please don’t forget to do your bit, when time comes.
Please attach your JOSSA fee receipt in place of semester fee receipt.
Please explain your situation on a white sheet of paper and self attest your statement by signing. Subsequently please upload this document in place of income certificate. If you receive the income certificate before the scholarship application date ends, please submit it separately via e-mail.
The IIT BHU Foundation Scholarship covers your academic fees. However, it does not cover mess fees.
The refund for Semester 1 & 2 is processed after your selection. From Semester 3 onwards, you don’t need to pay the academic fees upfront — it will be auto-paid by the Foundation.
Yes, the scholarship may be canceled if the recipient fails to meet the required GPA of 7.0 or does not fulfill other eligibility criteria as outlined by the Foundation.
Yes, for the refund process, the beneficiary name must match the recipient’s name. A bank account in your own name is mandatory.
Yes, if you wish to discontinue the scholarship, simply write a mail to us informing your decision.
