The 40th edition of Spardha, the annual sports fest of IIT (BHU) Varanasi, concluded with grandeur, enthusiasm, and unforgettable moments. This year’s edition witnessed an overwhelming 40,000+ footfall and participation from nearly 2,000 athletes, transforming the institute’s grounds into a vibrant celebration of spirit, teamwork, and excellence. Over the course of three days, Spardha’25 stood as a symbol of determination, discipline, and dedication — uniting athletes from across the country under one banner of passion and performance.
An Inspirational Opening and a Memorable Finale
The event began on a high note with the Opening Ceremony graced by Naina Jaiswal, whose inspiring journey set the perfect tone for the days ahead. Her words of perseverance and determination resonated deeply with the participants, reminding them that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
The Closing Ceremony was equally captivating, featuring cricketing legend Cheteshwar Pujara and national volleyball star Rajat Choudhary. Their presence and motivational messages left an indelible mark on every athlete, encapsulating the true essence of sportsmanship and hard work.

Courts came alive with the energy of basketball, volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis, and table tennis, while combat sports like boxing and taekwondo, along with powerlifting and weightlifting, displayed sheer strength and discipline.
Games such as handball, kho-kho, squash, and chess highlighted strategy, coordination, and mental resilience, making Spardha not just a competition, but a comprehensive celebration of athletic excellence.
IIT (BHU) — Champions of Spardha’25
The host institute, IIT (BHU), delivered a remarkable performance, dominating across multiple events.
The boys’ contingent clinched victories in athletics, basketball, boxing, football, handball, kho-kho, powerlifting, taekwondo, volleyball, and weightlifting, while finishing runners-up in cricket, kabaddi, lawn tennis, squash, and table tennis.
The girls’ team mirrored this excellence, winning in boxing, kabaddi, kho-kho, squash, taekwondo, and volleyball, and securing runner-up positions in athletics, basketball, football, and lawn tennis. Adding to the institute’s glory, the mixed chess team also triumphed, displaying both intellect and composure.
With such consistent and dominant performances, IIT (BHU) rightfully emerged as the Overall Champion of Spardha 2025, while IIT Roorkee was recognized as the Best Outstation Team, honoring their exceptional performances across multiple disciplines.
