The IIT (BHU) Foundation proudly celebrates a momentous occasion in the Institute’s journey toward academic excellence — the inauguration of the Dev & Vardhana Goswami Lecture Hall Complex, a state-of-the-art educational facility that marks both a milestone in infrastructure and a powerful testament to the strength of alumni giving.
On 14th July 2025, this iconic complex was inaugurated by Dev Goswami, the donor, in the presence of Amit Patra, Director of IIT (BHU), faculty members, students, and members of the extended IIT (BHU) community. The event represents more than just the opening of a building; it’s the beginning of a bold new chapter in the Institute’s pursuit of excellence in teaching, research, and interdisciplinary learning.
This milestone was made possible by a transformative $1.6 million contribution from Mr. Dev Goswami, a distinguished alumnus from the Class of 1974 (Mechanical Engineering) and Executive Chairman of IPS LLC, a Berkshire Hathaway company, along with his wife, Dr. Vardhana Goswami. Their generous donation propels the IIT (BHU) Foundation past $10 million in total fundraising, reaffirming the power of alumni support in shaping the Institute’s future.
Speaking at the inaugural, Professor Amit Patra expressed heartfelt gratitude and noted:
“Mr. Goswami’s extraordinary generosity reflects the spirit and strength of our alumni community. This contribution is not just a donation — it is a legacy. The Dev & Vardhana Goswami Lecture Hall Complex will be a beacon of academic innovation and a living tribute to the transformative power of giving back.”
The Lecture Hall Complex, spread across three expansive floors, is built to serve the evolving academic needs of IIT (BHU)’s diverse student body — from undergraduates to doctoral scholars. With a seating capacity for 1,850 students, the complex is equipped with smart boards, high-speed Wi-Fi, advanced acoustics, ergonomic seating, and inclusive design features that encourage group learning and academic collaboration. It embodies the future of higher education — inclusive, interactive, and innovation-driven.
Reflecting on his vision, Mr. Dev Goswami shared:
“My vision for this complex is to have a vibrant space that would foster learning, interaction, networking, and collaboration, ultimately leading to the development of highly skilled technology and business leaders who can make a difference in the world.”
As a pioneering leader in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, Mr. Goswami’s career reflects the values and impact of an IIT (BHU) education — leadership, innovation, and a commitment to giving back. His contribution not only builds infrastructure but inspires a legacy of philanthropy among future alumni.
The inauguration of the Dev & Vardhana Goswami Lecture Hall Complex stands as a powerful reminder: when alumni and the Institute come together with a shared purpose, transformational change becomes possible.
As the Foundation crosses the $10 million mark in donations, this is not the culmination — it’s a catalyst. The IIT (BHU) Foundation continues to move forward, building a future where every student, faculty member, and alumnus can contribute to making IIT (BHU) a global epicenter of learning and leadership.
