Honouring a Legacy of Knowledge and Innovation
A day filled with pride and purpose, the 14th Convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, stood as a testament to the Institute’s legacy of academic brilliance and innovation. The ceremony celebrated the culmination of years of hard work by its graduates and reflected the spirit of resilience, creativity, and leadership that defines IIT (BHU). From the conferring of Gold Medals to the inspiring words of distinguished guests, every moment echoed the Institute’s century-long commitment to knowledge and nation-building.
A Morning of Pride, Inspiration, and Celebration
The Convocation began with an air of pride and reverence, opening with an invocation song whose sacred shlokas set a serene and reflective tone for the day. The presence of Dr. V. Narayanan, Distinguished Scientist and Chairman, ISRO, as the Guest of Honour, added immense prestige and inspiration to the ceremony.
Prof. Amit Patra, Director of IIT (BHU), in his address, highlighted the Institute’s significant strides in academics, research, and innovation. He acknowledged the collective effort of faculty, researchers, and students in sustaining IIT (BHU)’s legacy as a centre of excellence and nation-building.
Recognition of Excellence and Dedication
One of the most cherished moments of the ceremony was the conferring of Gold Medals upon exceptional achievers from the Ph.D., M.Tech., and B.Tech. programs. These honours recognized not only academic excellence but also the leadership, perseverance, and innovative thinking that the recipients demonstrated during their journey at IIT (BHU).
In total, 1,995 students were conferred their degrees, while 62 outstanding achievers received 123 medals and prizes for their extraordinary accomplishments. This recognition stood as a tribute to the tireless dedication, determination, and brilliance that drove the IIT (BHU) community forward.
Inspiring Words from Visionary Leaders
The highlight of the ceremony was the inspiring address by Dr. V. Narayanan, who beautifully linked the wisdom of Varanasi, the legacy of IIT (BHU), and ISRO’s global achievements, urging graduates to dream big and drive India’s progress in science and technology. A virtual address by Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Honourable Union Minister of State for Education, added to the occasion’s significance, as he congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to contribute to building a self-reliant and innovative India.
Teamwork Behind a Grand Success
The Convocation’s success was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Student Alumni Interaction Cell (SAIC), Students’ Parliament, and Student Counselling Services (SCS), whose teamwork ensured a dignified and seamless event. Sincere gratitude was extended to Prof. Amit Patra (Director, IIT BHU), the Dean of Academic Affairs, and all faculty members for their constant guidance and support in making the ceremony a grand success.
